Anne Ripper :: Executive Manager
As the head of GETI Tasmania, Anne is our state representative to many groups and advises the Tasmanian Government on international education. She is a qualified teacher with years of experience in management, training and business. Tasmania’s fine food is close to her heart, having formerly managed TAFE Tasmania’s Drysdale Institute, delivering hospitality, tourism and cookery training, and having owned and operated three successful Tasmanian restaurants.
David Gutteridge :: Operations Manager
Born in England, David had the good sense to marry an Australian and has now been living in Tasmania for many years. He lives on a rural property where he raises alpacas, treating them like members of his family. He loves Tasmania’s wide open spaces and enjoys watching our international students grow in the time they spend with us.
Tom Burton :: Marketing Manager
Tom’s love of surfing comes from his childhood on the north coast of Tasmania, where he was a champion junior surf lifesaver. He moved to Hobart to complete his marketing degree, working hard after graduation to fund 3 years of travel around the world, including Africa and the Americas. Now he’s happily settled back into life in Tasmania.
Mayumi Otsuka :: Marketing Officer (MARN: 1068993)
Mayumi is from Tokyo and first came to Tasmania over 10 years ago as an international student. She loves Tassie’s clean air, friendly people and enjoys getting lots of sunshine without being too hot. She is a champion archer and is quite well versed in Australian slang. She has many years experience in international education and continues to help provide a great experience for many Japanese students and others from all over the world.
Kelly Cooper :: Finance Officer
First came out to Australia in the early 00s, after meeting her husband in her native England. They moved to Australia to make a better life for their family and settled in Tasmania after finding Perth too fast and busy. Kelly’s family includes two girls who all split their time between Hobart and rural Tasmania. As a migrant herself, she can relate to the experiences of people who choose to come to Tasmania and enjoys learning about their lives.
Deidre Cheers :: Admissions Officer
Originally from Tasmania, Deidre spent years of her childhood living in Tonga and later won a scholarship to study senior high school in Chicago. A former manager for Australia’s Ansett airlines, Deidre used her employee discount to travel as widely as possible. She now remains in Hobart with her daughter and two dogs.
Molly Hasell :: Admissions Officer
Originally from Singapore, Molly has lived in Australia for 36 years. She is passionate about internationalisation and as a result loves working with the team at GETI Tasmania - where she has been employed in the admissions team for 3 years. When not at work Molly is busy with her 3 children and 4 grandchildren.
Christy Mie Capondag :: Receptionist / Administrative
Assistant Christy comes from the Philippines and moved to Tasmania to join her family when she was 17 years old. Within 24 hours of her arrival, she walked through the doors of a Hobart high school, so she can understand the experiences shared by our students. After becoming a mother to her boy, she spent some time travelling through South East Asia, before returning to Hobart to study a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Political Science and International Relations.
Tiffany von Stieglitz :: Homestay Coordinator (North)
Descended from German royalty, Tiffany’s family were some of Tasmania’s early free settlers. Her family welcomed international students into their home, and Tiffany herself took a student exchange in Pennsylvania, before travelling through Europe, Central and South America. She loves working with the international students, finding out about their lives and is still amazed by all the cultures she encounters. She has two boys of her own who enjoy the mix of a city and farming lifestyle.
Helen Maddox :: Homestay Coordinator (South)
Our Southern homestay coordinator is a true Tasmanian, having lived most of her life in a small rural logging community in Tasmania’s central highlands. She grew up fishing, camping and even gold mining. Yet in the past decade, she has travelled all over the world, including China, Nepal and Africa. She believes that any student prepared to travel to the other side of the world is very brave. She enjoys listening to stories about student’s homes and being able to help them adjust to their new life in Tasmania.
Lisa Minchin :: English Language Support Teacher (South Drysdale)
A Hobart girl, Lisa is an experienced teacher who loves getting to know the students. By nurturing their learning and personal development, Lisa gets to watch the students grow in confidence as they meet the unique challenges that each student’s culture and language bring to their studies in Australia.
