Joint applications

If you have long term plans to study at more than one level in Tasmania, you may apply to study at more than one institution. Exactly how to do this will depend on your circumstance and which institutions you are applying to, so it is best to contact GETI Tasmania for individual advice.

It is not compulsory to submit joint applications, but in some cases it may be desirable. For example, if you choose to apply to more than one institution through a study agent, that agent may claim commission for each level of study.

But once you are in Tasmania and if you decide to stay, you can easily apply for additional studies yourself without involving the agent.

GETI administers all applications for Tasmanian Government schools and senior secondary colleges, and the Tasmanian Polytechnic.

GETI does not accept applications for the University of Tasmania, except in the case of the package offers for articulation with credit from the Tasmanian Polytechnic to the University of Tasmania.

Applying to study Year 10 in a junior secondary  school and Year 11 and 12 in a senior secondary college

Moving from junior secondary school to senior secondary college is a normal step for every Tasmanian student. Your school’s international student advisor will help you. Your tuition fees should be paid in full to GETI Tasmania prior to commencing Year 11.

Applying to study Year 11 and 12 in a senior secondary college and the Tasmanian Polytechnic

All students should speak to their school’s international student advisor and career counsellor about their choices beyond Year 12.

Though GETI can process applications for both senior secondary college and the Tasmanian Polytechnic, each application must be made separately on its own form. The letter of offer for the Tasmanian Polytechnic will be provisional and dependant on your satisfactory completion of Year 12.
