It is not necessary to use a study agent to apply for an education overseas, but there are many good reasons for doing so.
Some of the best reasons for using a study agent include: Making the application process easier to understand
Being able to talk to someone in your own language
Registered agents will have good knowledge of courses and the destination
They have knowledge and experience of education systems from all over Australia and the world.
They understand the difficulties that can arise and will help you to avoid them.
They will know about Tasmania and its lifestyle
You can get the right advice on complicated visa requirements
GETI's Registered Agents
GETI is a part of the Tasmanian State Government, but we regularly form partnerships with study agents and maintain a list of registered agents. All the agents on this list have been screened and vetted by GETI and are authorised to represent us in your country.
We are in regular contact with these agents. Some of their counsellors have also been to Tasmania to tour our schools and facilities and to meet some of the people who will be helping you while you are here.
Study Agents and Fees
Study agents may be private businesses, or a not for profit organisation. Many – but not all – study agents will charge you a fee for their service, or offer additional services to you for a price. It is up to you and your family to decide what is appropriate.
Talk to a few study agents to compare and make sure that you know exactly what services you are paying for from both the agent, and from the education provider.
Study Agent or Migration Agent?
Some education agents operating in Australia are also migration agents, who handle complex visa issues. In Australia, migration agents are strictly regulated and must be registered with the Migration Agents Registration Authority (MARA). For more information and the registered migration agents' code of conduct, visit the MARA website.
